Let’s be honest, everyone has wanted a tree house at one time or another. Well on January 7th early in the morning (around 2am) I got mine! My living
situation for the semester is “Capsule 1″ and it is pretty much a hut on stilts.
The tree house is made out of sticks, so there are gaps all over. You enter through a trap door in the floor, like a real tree house, cool I know and it is made up of three rooms. Thee are two bedrooms and a room where the door is. The bedrooms consist of a bed with a mosquito net.
Arriving to FERAL, and this living situation, at 2am after a long day of traveling was very
overwhelming but the capsules are starting to grow on me. Oh, and they are on stilts because building on the ground absorb heat, so they are much hotter, and so the poisonous snakes don’t get in our bags.
My first few days here have been pretty relaxing, we walked around town and took a boat ride to see how erosion has affected the local beaches. We also went to Sadhana Forest which is an organization of volunteers that focus on reforestation and are a completely sustainable community. Hopefully I will be staying there for a week next month! For more information on Sadhana Forest, google them, or check out my later posts. Classes officially start tomorrow!

Kelsey… Hope the foot is healing well. New Years Eve sounded awesome. And I love your “bungalow”. Enjoy, seek out new experiences and return home safely. Dottie
