Even though I was exhausted after diving for three days straight, I could never pass up going to an Indian wedding. By the time we got back from diving we only had enough time to shower and get ready.
Chitra and Sumathi, the (AMAZING) cooks on campus, helped us get ready and wrapped us in our saris. There was a lot of laughing and smiling while they were doing it so I think they had a good time. Chitra even gave us some bangles and a bindi (the dot on the forehead) which meant the world.
It wasn’t hard to find the ceremony we just followed the lights and music. When we got there we realized it was a full blown party! The bride and groom were taking pictured with everyone, so we did that, then ate dinner. The food was delicious!! It was served on a huge leaf and eaten (like all meals here) with our hands.
After dinner we socialized and as it turns out, people wanted pictures with us as well as the bride and groom. At one point we had a line for pictures just like the happy couple, it was a blast! The wedding was not what I had expected but all in all so much fun!

Hello, Kelsey! I like how you ladies wrapped the longer end of the saris, covering the front (and tucked into the side). I’m sure it makes moving around a lot easier!
Hey! Thanks for checking out my blog! I too really liked how they wrapped them, we did have to wear yoga pants underneath the sari though, because they tucked a bunch of the fabric into them. That along with 3 safety pins was all they used. It was pretty amazing and easy to walk in (once I got used to it)! I look forward to your comments on my future blog posts!
Its really interesting. Like it.
